Linda De Long, EdD '10

Linda De Long entered her 26th year of teaching at the University this year and has over 32+ years of organizational knowledge and teaching experience.

As a Senior Adjunct Professor for the College of Business and Public Management, Linda regularly teaches Leadership courses for Bachelor’s and Master’s level business students at La Verne’s regional and online campuses. The course that brought her to the University of La Verne was an Undergraduate course, Culture and Gender Issues in Management, where Linda brings forth the value of diversity and engages students with interactive activities to help drive home the value of finding ways to instill diversity and inclusion opportunities within our workplaces.

In 2010, Linda returned to the classroom as a student to earn her doctorate from La Verne’s College of Education in Organizational Leadership. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Small Business and HR Management from Cal Poly, Pomona and an MBA from the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University. Linda was the 2000 Adjunct Faculty of the Year for the University of La Verne and in 2010 earned Faculty of the Year for the CAPA Program.

One could say that 2010 was a pivotal year for Linda. She moved into academia from a 30+ year career as a Senior Human Resources Director in various industries including banking, mortgage, insurance services, healthcare, security systems and utility.

Since 2010, Linda served the University in roles such as HR Training Coordinator and Director of the Title V Graduate Success Center. Today, Linda is Program Director for the Academic Success Center, leading academic and coaching workshops.

A native Californian and the first person in her family to graduate from college, Linda enjoys mentoring First Generation students as part of the First Generation Mentoring Program. Active in community efforts, Linda helped create scholarships for graduating students from Edgewood high school, her alma mater in West Covina, CA; she serves on St. Jude Hospital Patient & Family Advisory board in Fullerton CA. When not teaching, Linda enjoys attending airplane, car and motorcycle shows and catching a movie with husband Charlie to whom she has been married for over 20 years.
